On this show we love biblical and scriptural coinage! Behold, the Widow's mite, as referenced in Mark 12:41-44. It is impossible to know exactly WHICH mite was indeed the widow's or even of what strike or image the coin was, but biblical scholars and archaeologists have basically determined the small coins coins struck by Alexander Jannaeus between 103-76 BC are the most likely candidate. They were bronze coins, minted in Judea, and were the smallest-sized currency in circulation at the time, equivalent in value to a minimal six minutes of labor. Fortunately, these coins were struck and distributed far and wide in the century before Jesus and can be an affordable addition to any biblical enthusiast's collection. Similar to modern pennies, these coins were used quite heavily, so much so that they would sometimes develop sharp edges from wear, hence the scripture, "bags which wax not old" (Luke 12:33) A viewer has donated his private collection to the channel which included several widow's mites (Thank you Mr. Miller) and we would love you to have one at a discounted price or as a promotion!
